I pay a lot of attention to politics. Civil rights and liberties, poverty, class inequalities, U.S. aggressions, and world conflict are subjects I am most passionate about. I am a fierce advocate of basic human rights, respect, and dignity for people world wide, regardless of where they were born, or where they live.
In my personal life, I am a fire spinner, who uses fire staff, fire poi, and fire fans as my preferred props. I am also a makeup artist, working mostly with performance groups and circus related acts here in the Phoenix area.
Above all, I am an activist, and am constantly seeking other ways to get involved. If you know of any great grassroots organizations, either nationally, or located in Arizona, please, send them my way!
Peace, love, and cocoa puffs,
~Amy

Excellent photos of activism and protest in Washington DC, marking the 5 year anniversary of the War in Iraq. Site is updated frequently, with protests and updates nearly every weekend, and for any noted day in this ongoing occupation.

there are some startling photos in here, of the power of emotion that overwhelms people when the reality of what is going on in Iraq, and what is at stake, in terms of life, and freedom, and humanity, comes into focus. I am very grateful for those who were there, and those who risked their own liberty, in order to fight to protect it for others.

Congress just gave retroactive immunity to telecom companies who acted with complicity to the illegal wiretapping program of the Bush Administration. The members of our congress no longer act with respect to the constituents they represent, as it becomes clearer when they ignore the expressed wishes of those very people, and act in accordance to the lawless, arrogant behavior of party leaders. I too, have never been more ashamed to be an American...yet, I still whole heartedly believe that while living in this country, we must take advantage (and not take for granted!) of the freedoms we do have, to make our voices heard as we shout loudly against the imposition of constitutional infringements.

You cannot point a gun at an idea. You cannot exploit weak tactics when there are none. You cannot pinpoint a scapegoat, when there are no leaders. Our revolution is ours, it is of the people, and we the people far outnumber those we are against. Whether it is ideological, informative, or combative, this revolution is ours, and we are growing!

Whenever I become frustrated with the lack of action on the part of the US citizenry in regards to this administration and all of its atrocities, I come here. People are doing things, they are out there, they are protesting, and they are advocating on behalf of all of us, and even more importantly, on behalf of people who's voices are being silenced. Please take a look at this site, look at the pictures of the protesters, and give them your support.

This is truly one of my favorite political blogs to visit. Great, up to date headlines following our election (which helps me since I refuse to watch our MSM cover it), the candidates, but also, and I think, more importantly, the issues that are really facing all of us. The issues of racism, poverty, constitutional infringements, the ridiculous, endless mistakes of this ever fallible Bush Administration. You might not always agree with what it said, but if you only frequent those you agree with, you'll never have a chance at another side of the story right? Progress...be a part of it.

My libertarian friends will love this one, as will most other leftist thinkers. Considerable information pertaining to our loss of liberty, our apathy as a nation, and our disgust with all things insidious about our Congress and Administration leaders. And of course, Ron Paul.

Insightful commentary on the political turbulence in our country. We all need it, in light doses, or heavy, in order to wrap our minds around what the hell is going on with this country, and all of the hypocrisy it entails. You want scathing humor, and uncomfortable truths? Look no further.
